Remedial training
| Remedial Training is usually
the only way forward for the problem horse. It follows the
same principles as ordinary basic training, but is broken
down into much smaller steps or stages.
Ordinary training simply implants an idea into the horse's mind and usually takes but 3 or 4 presentations for the lesson to be learned. |
|
| Remedial Training takes an idea which
is already in the horse's mind and seeks to change or reverse it. Progress may be slow, but as long as there is
improvement with each training session, success is inevitable. Some forms of remedial training require going right back to basics and starting the horse from the beginning. Others take part of a basic training program, and build trust and confidence by breaking it down into the smallest possible stages. The end result is always a horse or pony who is quiet, safe and sensible to ride and handle. |
