THE
RIGHT RESULT!
Making
owners & riders happy with their horses!
Amy
& Morgan - A personal visit
I was
called out to see 16 year old Amy and her horse Morgan
who had been trained to Olympic standards.
Theoretically, he should have been perfect in every way
but Amy couldn't get him to go more than half way up the
arena. She would kick on madly and smack
him. He would fly-kick and refuse to go any
further.
My first
task was to get Morgan going freely forward. I put
him on the lunge and worked in walk, trot and halt,
slowly moving the circle towards the top end of the
arena. Morgan understood lunging perfectly and
never faltered.
|

|
| Within
about 20 minutes, I could place him wherever I wanted
him, including his bogey place at the top end of the
arena. Obediently, he obeyed my lunge
instructions. Now it was time to put Amy on board
and let Morgan find out that it was OK for him to carry
his rider.
To this end, Amy was
instructed not to use her reins or legs but to
sit quietly doing nothing while I told Morgan what do do
- as I had done on the lunge. At first, Morgan was
hesitant. He was anticipating 'orders from above'
but when none came, he settled down very nicely.
Again, I directed Morgan all over the arena while Amy
sat quietly and did nothing.
The next step was to
bring in the usual aids. I told Amy to use her
legs and reins normally but as gently as possible.
She was astonished at how light and easy he
was.
We were making good
progress. Before leaving, I showed Amy how to
lunge correctly and left her with instructions to go
through the same procedure as we had been through that
day a few times during the week. Her father would
lunge her when the time came.
It took two more
sessions to get the partnership working together.
By the end of it, Amy was working beautifully all over
the arena and planning to enter her next dressage
test. Amy Jones (UK)

Topper - Guidance and support by email
We had the best
ride ever! Topper didn't put a foot wrong for the whole
two hours and stayed with me completely. It was absolutely
fantastic. I finally felt we were riding in complete
harmony.
It didn't matter what
the other mare did. I came first. She spooked at
everything ... Topper just kept walking. She bucked, but
that didn't bother him either. We even rode all the way
home on our own for the very first time - and that was even
better! Kim Goss (UK)

Barbara
& Quidam - Guidance and support by email
My
friend was having problems with her young horse (the
spotty one!). He was
starting to buck before a trot or canter and he was also
'playing up' when put into a position he was not happy
about. I was keen to take him on, as I thought her method
of riding wasn't helping, but there was no way I could do
this by myself so what better than to ask for Ruth's help
– a wise choice and the fee very well spent.
With
Ruth's expert advice and perfect understanding of what I
was trying to explain, she helped me through each stage
via a series of emails, which were all answered promptly
– it was if I had my own personal trainer by my side -
which gave me the confidence to take the next stage
further. I know I would not have had knowledge to work on
my own, and although I felt a sense of achievement, a big
vote of thanks is due to Ruth for helping to overcome the
problems.
With Ruth's help and encouragement – this
young horse became a much better ride – and I felt I had
come forward a long way myself in a very short time.

Percy - Guidance and support by email
Boy, you are an angel in the making! The
advice you gave me WORKED! Percy was miffed about me
changing the way I ride him, but I can't tell you how I felt on
returning to the yard. 'Pure victory!' Thank you.
